Cape Ann Artists
Yesterday and Today
The Guild is pleased to present this exhibition of Cape Ann artists. As we have done in past shows, we want to demonstrate the living and continuing tradition of a particular school of art, which in this case is the Cape Ann School.
There has been a long association between the Guild and the Cape Ann artists, as many of them have been and are today members of our organization. The Boston School and Cape Ann School share in common the love of beauty as found in nature and the eternal quest to capture the beauty, light, and color that an artist can only experience by being on location to capture what is truly there. Both traditions also share the influence of the Impressionists.
This exhibition was curated by David Curtis and Peter Tysver.
Judith Curtis wrote the wonderful article on the show in the current issue of American Art Review.
